The Warbler Seasonal Studio is a redesign of an antiquated carriage house in Savannah, GA intended to serve as a ceramist's living and work space.  The project responds to the contexts' seasonally shifting Sun, hydrology, and migratory wildlife by mimicking the properties of the severely degraded native habitat— the Bottomland Hardwood Forest.   The integration of a seasonal transitioning façade composed of native bark panels and birds boxes that establish habitat for the arrival of the threatened Prothonary Warbler in conjunction of the landscape interventions in the courtyard, hence the projects name 'The Warbler Studio'.
The workspace is easily accessible by the street making it easy to receive customers and deliver products to local markets.  The interior space is partitioned by a cooling spine employing passive design principles taking advantage of the sites prevailing winds to heat/cool the space while also functioning as storage space, to dry pottery, and to view the integrated bird boxes designed to house the Prothonary Warblers.
